Joy to the World

12-25-2016Weekly ReflectionFr. Francisco 'Bing' Colasito

My Brothers and Sisters,

Once again we are celebrating the most joyous me of the year, the season of Christmas. A blessed Christmas to all and let us sing "Joy to the World" at the top of our voices for indeed Christmas is the most important moment when the Savior is born in Bethlehem. He is the fulfillment of prophecy in Isaiah "God Himself will save us". Let us all celebrate this joy in our hearts. This Christmas, beyond food, gifts, parties and time, share the JOY and FAITH of Jesus in our hearts. Share the Christmas story within our family and with others, and bring others in contact with Jesus dwelling in our hearts.

The Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem will always leave a memorable vision with all visitors. The entrance is so low that only a child can walk straight. Popes, kings, leaders of nations, every one has to bow low to enter the Holy place where God humbled Himself and became one with us. It's a good reminder of how to approach and celebrate the Child Jesus at Christmas; that is with humility and simplicity. In doing so, we will truly begin to fell the joy that fills this silent and holy night. For He is so near, understands us in our weakness, and sets the example of humility for us to enter into the real spirit of Christmas.

So that we can truly be filled with gratitude and joy, and sing with the choirs of angels, "Glory to God in the highest!", let us not allow the rush, stress and the financial component of the Christmas season to deprive us of the peace, happiness and joy of this most beautiful time of the year. Let not the darkness in our midst, or the sparkle of the Christmas lights, make us lose our focus on that one humble and simple Christmas glow, the Baby Jesus.

May Jesus be truly in our hearts this Christmas,

Be in God(Baby Jesus)
Fr. Bing
