Stewardship of Giving

11-19-2017Weekly ReflectionFr. Francisco "Bing" Colasito

Dear Parishioner,

As your pastor of St. Rose, I feel truly blessed. I hope and pray that you similarly feel blessed. St. Rose Flourishes with spiritual activity, welcoming faith family of love and charity to those in need. We continue to grow our parish families and our parish staff. Our catechetical programs continue to grow and bring the Good News to A community that is hungry for His fulfillment.

Over the last several weeks, my homilies have touched on the four pillars of Spirituality of Stewardship; our identity in God, our ability to trust in Him, having gratitude for His gifts and finally how we are called to love. These pillars underpin our calling to support the Church as it works to build the kingdom of God on earth. Upon these pillars, we at St. Rose are building a parish that will move through four seasons of stewardship: Stewardship of Giving, Stewardship of Prayer, Stewardship of Serving and Stewardship of Faith. I will share more about these seasons over the coming months.

I would like to thank you for your involvement and support of our parish and ask that you consider how God has blessed you. Everything we have is a gift from God. Our salvation, our life on Earth and our relationships with friends and family are some of the most profound gifts the Lord has given us. Therefore, in gratitude for These gifts and out of Love for all He has given, we say thank you by being a good steward and sharing the Gifts He has given us. In this sense, I invite everyone to prayerfully consider how best to thank God by giving a portion back in Thanksgiving for what God has blessed you with. This is called a Tithe.

A tithe is the foundation for a believer into the “ covenant of blessing”. In Hebrew, the Hb.word “maaser” or “maasrah” means the tenth or tenth part. It is the tenth of our income that we give back to God, which enables Him to move on our behalf in the area of blessings. The tithe principle is: “ He gives unto us, we give back to Him as a gift a tenth of all that He has blesses us.”

In my home, we call this “ balik halad” which roughly translates into ‘return as gift”. The Bible tells us that we’re to thank God by tithing. You will find that when we have enough faith to give a tithe to God, many wondrous things happen through us and for us. God will never be outdone in generosity.

Prayfully, consider all He has given and Trust in the Lord and give back to Him out of gratitude from the love you have for Him in your heart.

Be in Christ,

Fr.Francisco “ Bing” Colasito
