I was reflecting on how our first Stewardship of Serving season has progressed. Honestly, I’m a little saddened. We’re a loving, welcoming parish. I hear people say this all the time. And yet, we struggle to find parishioners willing to serve. I think to some extent this is a sign of the times. We’re living in a world that is focused on self. We need to break out of this way of thinking and remember our earthly days are a means to an ultimate end (heaven).
I’m writing this on Wed, May 30. The Gospel for today was Mk 10:32-45. Purely by happenstance this was the verse I referenced in last week’s bulletin. I’m going to take that as a sign.
Mark 10: 43-45: “Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all. For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
I ask you to reflect and pray on two points for the remainder of our Stewardship of Serving Season (Apr-Jun).
With this background ask yourself the following:
God Bless, and once again, thank you to all who volunteer their time and talents to build the Kingdom of God here at St Rose.
