Stewardship of Giving

09-16-2018Weekly Reflection

What is discipleship? Discipleship is living as Christ called us to live. It is following to the best of our abilities the perfect model that He provides us. The Catechism of the Catholic Church explains that it is ‘a vocation to holiness and to the mission of evangelizing the world.’ (CCC1513) ‘as we are called to follow and imitate Christ’ (CCC520).

It’s a vocation, more than a job, it’s a calling. The scope is no less than evangelizing the world. Luckily, there are many workers in His vineyard, and whether we were called to work in the morning or at the end of the day, we’ll all receive a fair day’s wage. All we have to do is follow His lead.

Here at St Rose, we have embraced the journey into intentional discipleship and stewardship. As part of this journey, it’s worth revisiting a few tenets that will form the basis for understanding the need to be disciples and good stewards.

  1. Identity: We are created in the likeness and image of God. We are created by God for God; to love and serve Him.
  2. Trust: We are called to carry out His will, not ours. Everything we have comes from God. We can trust in Him because he created us.
  3. Gratitude: Accepting and trusting that all things come from God, by His will, leads directly to our need to express gratitude for the gifts He’s bestowed.
  4. Love: We are created by God to love Him. Love is a gift that must be given freely. In loving God, we are called to love one another.

So, what’s next for St Rose? Are you ready to work in His vineyard?

God Bless,
Bryan (Rom 12:6)
