“From her poverty, has contributed all she had...” (Mk. 12:44)

God wants people to do good out of pure sincerity. It is not so much the quantity as the quality of our giving that matters. This Jesus pointed out when He put more value to the widow’s mite rather than the rich peoples’ surplus. And all believers should give to the Lord. Giving is a privilege and a responsibility for those who have received from God first.

We give because God was the first to have given us, and we want to please Him. This is one way of putting our hearts right before God. Jesus said in Mt. 6:21, “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” How should we give? Give in a pre-planned or systematic way, give in secret, and give sacrificially at times. How has God supplied your needs? Phil.4:17-19 says, when we give, God promises to supply all our needs.
