Word of Life

12-30-2018Weekly ReflectionFr. Bing Colasito

Wise men from the East came to Jerusalem... (Mt.2:1) The first chapter of Matthew tells us about the origin of Jesus, the second chapter deals with His mission and the purpose of His life. Jesus is the Messiah, the new King, the wise men who were not Jews are the first Gentiles who receive the call of salvation in Jesus Christ.

St. Leo the Great confirms this when he says, “All nations come to form part of the family of the Patriarchs. And may the children of the promise receive the blessing of Abraham. May all peoples represented by the Magi, adore the creator of the universe, and God be known not only in Judea but throughout the whole world… his name shall be great in Israel.”

How has God guided me in my faith journey? Am I persevering in my search for Jesus like the wise men?

Be in God,
Fr. Bing
