The Sacrament of First Reconciliation

Grades 3rd - 12th

In our Diocese, we begin preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation no earlier than the second grade. It is preferred that children have one full year of catechesis prior to the second year. Children must receive the Sacrament of First Reconciliation prior to their reception of Confirmation/First Eucharist. First Reconciliation classes are scheduled separately from Religious Education (RE) classes and must be conjunction with those classes.

We prepare for and celebrate for this sacrament in the fall. Along with attending regular RE classes, children are required to attend five First Reconciliation classes on Tuesday evenings. Children, along with their parents, are required to attend one retreat before the celebration of the sacrament. Dates and times of classes are posted at the beginning of the school year.
